3) Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have built what has the chance to be an explosive offense, and seem fully intent on using this season as an audition for Jalen Hurts to show he deserves to be the quarterback long-term.

Hurts made four starts last season, and ultimately showed the Eagles there could be life after Carson Wentz. As a rookie, Hurts completed just 52 percent of his passes for 1,061 yards with six touchdowns to four interceptions, but also proved that he can be a legitimate threat to tuck and run with the football.

After choosing wide receiver DeVonta Smith in the first-round of this spring’s NFL Draft, Hurts now has plenty of weapons around him … In second-year receiver Jalen Reagor, running back Miles Sanders, and tight end Dallas Goedert to pack a bit of a punch this season.

But, if Hurts doesn’t reach his ceiling this season, the Eagles are armed with potentially as many as three first-round picks as ammunition to trade for a veteran replacement such as Aaron Rodgers or Deshaun Watson, or to move up in the NFL Draft next spring.

In the Eagles’ preseason opener, Hurts moved the ball effectively, perhaps alleviating some of the pressure and showing head coach Nick Siririani what he’s capable of.
