Three of the premier running backs in the NFL call the NFC East home, but how do NY Giants’ Saquon Barkley, the Eagles’ Miles Sanders, and Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott stack up?

There’s an argument that three of the top-10 running backs in the NFL play in the NFC East, including NY Giants star Saquon Barkley, when healthy.

Not to be discounted is burgeoning Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson, who seems primed for a breakout campaign to cement his status as one of the game’s premier young backs.

So, who is the top running back in this loaded division?

Here’s a look at how the running backs in the NFC East, including NY Giants’ star Saquon Barkley stack up:

4) Antonio Gibson – Washington Football Team

Gibson burst onto the scene as a rookie, and proved that he can be a versatile weapon both in the ground attack and the passing game for the Washington Football Team.

The former Memphis Tiger averaged 4.7 yards per carry, while rushing for 795 yards and 11 touchdowns and adding 36 receptions for 247 yards.

An all-purpose yards machine, is an explosive back who has the shiftiness to make defenders miss in the open-field.

If Gibson can stay healthy this season, in an offense that includes Terry McLaurin and speedy wide receiver Curtis Samuel commanding attention over the top, he has the chance to be a focal point of Washington’s offense.

Given his explosiveness and big-play capability, don’t be surprised if Gibson is significantly higher on this list next season.
