Eagles offensive tackle Andre Dillard is drawing interest from ‘quite a few teams’ across the NFL, might the NY Giants make sense as a trade destination?

The NY Giants are in desperate need of depth along the offensive line, and could turn within the division to find it.

According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Jeff McLane, teams have inquired about Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Andre Dillard.

Multiple NFL sources tell FanSided that “quite a few” teams have already reached out to the Eagles and expressed interest in Dillard.

“The biggest problem is that Dillard just can’t stay healthy,” the executive tells FanSided, on the condition of anonymity to speak freely. “Some teams believe he was over-drafted by the Eagles, but he’s still young with the talent to play left tackle.”

Dillard has been a bit of a disappointment, since being chosen by the Eagles with the with the No. 22 overall pick in 2019. As a rookie, Dillard allowed four sacks and 25 total pressures in 183 pass-protection snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. Last summer, Dillard’s season ended before it had the chance to begin, when he tore his biceps during training camp.

For the NY Giants, who could conceivably plug Dillard in as a swing offensive tackle or perhaps move the 6-foot-5 and 310 pound Washington State product inside to offensive guard, the question becomes whether his first-round pedigree is worth the injury-risk and possibly high asking price from general manager Howie Roseman and the Eagles.

Poor offensive line play continues to dog the NY Giants this summer, as Kenny Wiggins had a rough outing in place of Shane Lemieux in the preseason opener against the Jets, and Matt Peart was less than inspiring, allowing a sack, last week, as well.

If a bidding war winds up not developing, Dillard could be an option for the NY Giants, even after trading a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft this week to the Houston Texans in exchange for cornerback Keion Crossen.
