NY Giants’ Kadarius Toney remains sidelined ahead of game vs. Browns
NY Giants first-round pick Kadarius Toney remains sidelined, and will be out for the second consecutive preseason game
It will be at least another week before NY Giants first-round pick Kadarius Toney gets on the field.
The Giants announced Thursday that Toney won’t be participating in any team drills during this week’s joint practices with the Browns, and will be out against Cleveland in Week 2 of the NFL preseason.
Toney, chosen by the NY Giants with the No. 20 overall pick in this spring’s draft, has gotten off to a disappointing start to his career.
Last Saturday in the exhibition opener against the Jets, Toney was nowhere to be found, while dealing with an injury. Toney tested positive for COVID-19 upon reporting to training camp last month, and has only participated in a handful of individual drills so far this summer and a couple periods of 11-on-11.
In addition to Toney being out, the NY Giants will be without running back Saquon Barkley for at least one more week, same goes for veteran wide receiver Kenny Golladay, who continues to recover from a hamstring injury suffered in practice two weeks ago. Veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph still has not played a snap during training camp and will miss Sunday’s game, as well.
The NY Giants and Browns kickoff at 1 p.m. Sunday, at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, after falling to the Jets 12-7 in Week1 of the preseason.
