Gary Brightwell, Running Back

Gary Brightwell got his first NFL action and touches Sunday against Cleveland. Brightwell played in the second half and was active in the NY Giants’ offense.

The NY Giants’ sixth-round pick finally got to show what he’s capable of.

Brightwell got stuffed on the NY Giants’ two-point conversion attempt to take the lead after a David Sills touchdown in the 4th quarter. He ended up with three carries for seven yards but his offensive line wasn’t providing much help. Brightwell ended up with three catches for 12 yards all coming on the game’s last drive. He showed some promise as a pass-catching running back for the future.

For now, Brightwell’s roster status is still in jeopardy due to the veterans ahead of him. He could be a prime practice squad candidate to develop for this year and the future.
