Several players fighting for jobs on the NY Giants roster significantly helped their cause by making significant impacts on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns
The NY Giants’ starters were reduced to spectators for the second consecutive week of the preseason, which meant Sunday’s 17-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns was another audition for players on the bubble.
Sunday afternoon, several young players, and those fighting for jobs, took significant steps towards winning a spot on the NY Giants roster, in what will likely be their most extended playing time of the spring, as the starters are likely to play the majority of the preseason finale against the Patriots.
Here’s a look at the bubble players who significantly helped their cause towards making the NY Giants roster:
NY Giants WR C.J. Board
For the second consecutive week, Board got the start at wide receiver, and on the first play from scrimmage took an end-around eight yards.
On the NY Giants’ final drive of the first quarter, Board caught a 12-yard pass from Glennon, to set up Devontae Booker’s touchdown plunge.
Board, thanks in part to his ability as a standout on special teams, just might have an edge for the final wide receiver spot on the NY Giants roster, especially since he has shown he can make plays on offense when called upon.
Sunday against the Browns, Board finished with one catch for 12 yards and the eight-yard run.
