New York fell to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon, but several players fighting for a spot on the NY Giants roster took big steps towards winning a job

Sunday, the NY Giants fell to the Cleveland Browns 17-13, but Week 2 of the NFL preseason provided some clarity in some of the key position battles leading up to the NY Giants roster being set.

Giants wide receiver David Sills caught a late touchdown, and running back Devontae Booker got New York on the board with a first half touchdown plunge, perhaps cementing their place on the roster and their roles on the process.

But, they weren’t the only players who made a strong impression.

Here’s a latest NY Giants 53-man roster projection following Sunday’s loss to the Browns:

NY Giants quarterbacks (2)

Daniel Jones, Mike Glennon

No real surprises here.

This season for the NY Giants is all about evaluating whether Jones can become an elite franchise quarterback, and the caliber of passer who can position the franchise to compete for Super Bowls.

Glennon finished Sunday’s contest 10-of-13 passing for 86 yards, but seemed to show enough that he’s plenty capable to be Jones’ backup.

Few teams carry three quarterbacks, but it would seem Brian Lewerke is earmarked for the practice squad, especially after a strong second half performance that included a fourth quarter touchdown pass to David Sills.
