Devante Downs

has had a rough offseason.

Downs has seen the Giants add a free agent linebacker in Reggie Ragland, they moved Coughlin to the inside, and Tae Crowder outperformed him as a rookie.

With all this, Downs’ performance on Sunday didn’t do him any help. Downs was picked apart by the Browns’ offense on the ground and through the air. Downs had some missed tackles that shouldn’t get past an NFL linebacker, especially one looking to take one of the final spots on the roster. Downs had one miserable drive where his struggles really stood out. Giants’ Twitter took notice and let it be known that Downs wasn’t playing well.

This defense has depth and a lot of quality depth and they will be fine at linebacker with Blake Martinez leading the way alongside Crowder, Coughlin, and Ragland. Devante Downs is likely playing his last game for the Giants this upcoming week. It would be a surprise if he made the roster as the Giants don’t need him really in any spot.
