Dante Pettis

The second-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2018 draft the Giants signed Pettis for conceivably the same reasons they signed Board; for depth.

Pettis himself has been injured in his short career but has good hands and is versatile as well. Sunday against the Browns Pettis was targeted 5 times and had three catches for 25 yards.

He also gained 4 yards on one carry.  Pettis is seemingly fighting Ross as well, ironically his college teammate for a spot on the 53. While not as good as Board on the defensive side of special teams, Pettis was a tremendous punt returner in college at Washington.

Pettis has the NCAA record with 9 punt returns for touchdowns including as a senior.  Given chances in San Francisco as a rookie he did not impress but the talent is there.

Again, with the Ross injuries Pettis makes the 53 and the Giants hold seven receivers on the roster.
