Adoree’ Jackson suffered an ankle sprain during Wednesday’s joint practice with the Patriots, but the NY Giants are optimistic he’ll be ready for Week 1

It appears NY Giants cornerback Adoree’ Jackson has a legitimate chance to play Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, after all.

According to multiple reports, Jackson’s sprained ankle suffered during Wednesday’s joint practice between the Giants and New England Patriots turned out to be a low-ankle sprain. Jackson and the NY Giants are optimistic that he’ll be ready for the season opener.

Fortunately for the NY Giants, this year’s schedule provides two weeks of additional practices following Sunday’s preseason finale ahead of the regular season getting underway on Sept. 12.

Woefully thin on the perimeter, when it comes to proven options opposite Pro Bowler James Bradberry, the NY Giants are counting on Jackson to bring added stability to what is one of the deepest starting secondaries in the league.

Prior to signing with the NY Giants this offseason, Jackson produced a 66.8 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus, while producing 12 tackles during a 2020 season that was cut short by a knee injury that limited him to just three games.

The NY Giants are banking on Jackson returning to full health and returning to form this season, after signing the 25-year-old to a $39 million contract during free agency this spring.
