NY Giants: Rookie power rankings as preseason comes to a close
NY Giants rookie No. 2: LB Azeez Ojulari
Azeez Ojulari has done everything necessary to keep Giants fans from worrying about whether or not he can be a reliable front seven option for Patrick Graham’s defense. The Georgia Bulldog has impressed in training camp and laid a nice hit on Jets RB Michael Carter after shaking off sizable OL Mekhi Becton in the preseason opener.
As Joe Judge put it following the Jets game, Ojulari could use polish, but once polished, he has a lot of good personality traits that could push him to great heights:
"“There are things we have to clean up with him, but there’s some things that he flashed tonight that were very encouraging to build on. I liked his attitude going into the game, I thought he had good intensity. You could see it in his eyes, he was focused going in.”"
Having focus is an obvious prerequisite to exceling at the highest level on the gridiron, especially for a rookie. Ojulari is already ahead of the game in many ways.
NY Giants rookie No. 1: CB Rodarius Williams
Rodarius Williams made a major jump in his second preseason performance against the Cleveland Browns after a so-so game against the Jets. He even led the team in tackles at FirstEnergy Stadium, collecting seven in total.
My fellow GMENHQ contributor Danny Friedman summed up Williams’ preseason well:
"Rodarius Williams is the perfect example of taking advantage of as many opportunities a possible in practice during training camp so far."
Williams has reached for the brass ring more than any other rookie so far in his first preseason training camp.
