The NY Giants seem to have the top two boundary cornerback spots locked up, but what does depth at that position look like?

Panic quickly set in for fans of the NY Giants when reports started to come out Wednesday afternoon that newly-acquired cornerback Adoree’ Jackson was forced to leave a joint practice with the New England Patriots due to a sprained ankle.

A Joe Judge press conference the following day, however, seemed to calm some of those nerves, as the coach said it appears the team “dodged a bullet” with Jackson’s injury,

Nevertheless, that brief moment of alarm was enough for Giants’ fans to send themselves down the rabbit hole of what depth beyond Jackson looks like.

Here is how the NY Giants top three boundary cornerbacks look behind James Bradberry and Adoree’ Jackson.

No. 3 NY Giants cornerback: Madre Harper

Although the Giants recently picked up Josh Jackson via a trade, he’s been dealing with injury issues since arriving to the team. Thus, he can’t be considered an option here.

Harper is someone who doesn’t have much defensive NFL experience, but at least he’s familiar with the scheme defensive coordinator Patrick Graham runs. In 2020, Harper appeared in nine games for the Giants and did most of his work on special teams.

Granted, it wouldn’t be an ideal situation for Harper to see the field on defense, at least at this stage of his career where he is still unproven, but he must have a certain level of comfort in the defense ran in New York over someone just recently coming in.
