The NY Giants closed the preseason with a 22-20 loss to the New England Patriots, now setting the 53-man roster is the top priority

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Mercifully, the NY Giants’ preseason has come to a close, and the next time this team takes the field the games will count for real.

The team that takes the field Week 1 against the Denver Broncos will look significantly different than the one that walked up the MetLife Stadium tunnel following Sunday’s exhibition finale against the New England Patriots.

That’s because the Giants and every other team across the NFL must trim their roster to 53 players, from 80, prior to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline to do so.

Ahead of the Giants roster cuts being made this week, here is our final NY Giants 53-man roster projection:

Quarterbacks (2)

Daniel Jones, Mike Glennon

Outside looking in: Brian Lewerke

Jones finally had the opportunity to get on the field for some preseason work in Sunday night’s game against the New England Patriots.

Glennon is a veteran presence in the quarterback-room, and has the experience of making 27 career starts, which makes him an asset if Jones is forced to miss any time.

Because Jones is only entering his third season, there’s little reason or upside value to carry a third quarterback such as Lewerke.
