NY Giants Lose to Patriots 22-20: 4 Instant Observations
Daniel Jones’ Turnover Issues Haven’t Gone Away
Daniel Jones knows how important holding onto the football is.
However, it’s been very difficult for him to replicate his strong beliefs in that importance of football protection.
Jones led what was a great drive spanning eight plays.
The first seven plays were positive as the Giants stormed up the field. Jones had three completions for over 30 yards and a drawn penalty in coverage his first seven snaps of the drive. On 3rd & goal from the Patriots’ 1-yard line, Jones inexcusably threw behind Engram for an easy interception. Jones wasted a rare red zone opportunity and worse, threw a pick in the end zone just a mere yard away.
Jones needs to fix his turnover problems in year three. That much is certain. His ability isn’t in question. His ability to process the field, see and sense the oncoming pressure, and make smart decisions (and good throws) in timely spots like the red zone is in question.
