NY Giants Stock Up, Stock Down ahead of final roster cuts
Andrew Thomas Needs to be Better Immediately
There’s no sugarcoating it or beating around the bush; Andrew Thomas was the biggest worry from Week 3’s game.
Thomas started at left tackle and had his first live game reps in two weeks. Thomas looked good in Week 1, he didn’t look at all the same in Week 3.
Thomas struggled with his technique, his footwork, his hand placement, and with his finish against the Patriots. Several edge rushers had extensive success on Thomas which can’t be tolerated in year two. Thomas was a top-5 pick for a reason, he needs to start playing like it on Sundays.
Thomas let up 1.5 sacks, a flag for holding, and he allowed two (or more) total pressures from his side. Altogether, it was an ugly, concerning game for the Giants’ offensive line. The NY Giants are relying on Thomas to be a steady starter on their rocky offensive line. He needs to take a huge step forward and become the tackle the Giants envisioned he’d be two years ago.
