NY Giants trade B.J. Hill for former first-round offensive lineman

Monday, the NY Giants traded B.J. Hill to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for offensive lineman Billy Price

The NY Giants promised to continue shopping for offensive line help, and Monday followed through on that vow trading defensive lineman B.J. Hill to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for former first-round pick Billy Price.

Price, 25, offers versatility to play center or either guard position, which is a welcomed addition to a Giants offensive line that has been woefully thin along the interior. The NY Giants had been shopping for guards and centers over the past few weeks, and Hill’s name is one that had been mentioned in league conversations as a potential trade chip.

Last season, Price allowed just one sack and four pressures in 208 total snaps for the Bengals, while producing a 50.7 overall grade, a 68.2 run-blocking grade, but a meager 29.4 pass-protection grade.

In all likelihood, Price provides depth behind center Nick Gates and guards Shane Lemieux and Will Hernandez, while perhaps pushing for a starting job if the line continues to struggle.

Hill, chosen by the NY Giants in the third-round of the 2018 NFL Draft, finishes his NY Giants career with 116 total tackles, and 7.5 sacks in 45 games.

However, Hill’s role dramatically diminished following the NY Giants’ acquisition of Leonard Williams in a 2019 trade deadline deal with the Jets.
