The NY Giants roster is set, but several players who were released around the NFL could improve several positions of need

The NY Giants’ roster is set … For now.

Prior to Wednesday’s 4 p.m. deadline to do so, the Giants trimmed the roster to 53 players, including making a trade to acquire offensive lineman Ben Bredeson from the Baltimore Ravens.

However, with nearly two weeks remaining until the season opener against the Denver Broncos, much work still remains and changes to the NY Giants roster are still to come.

Next up, the NY Giants brass has the chance to mine the waiver wire for players who could be immediate contributors this season.

Here are some top waiver wire targets who could give the NY Giants roster a boost:

OL – Tyrell Crosby

The performances from Andrew Thomas and Nate Solder during the NY Giants’ preseason finale should sound alarms throughout Quest Diagnostics Training Center, and send Gettleman and judge scouring the waiver wire for offensive tackle help.

Crosby would need to prove healthy from a hamstring strain that limited him throughout training camp, but if he’s able to get on the field would be an instant upgrade as the Giants’ swing tackle.

Chosen in the fifth-round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Crosby is coming off one of his strongest seasons in 2020. Last season, Crosby produced a 68.1 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, while allowing only five sacks and 20 pressures in 657 total snaps last season.
