What makes him a great player?: 

Daniel Jones’ best traits are his accuracy and speed. He doesn’t have elite arm strength like Josh Allen or Justin Herbert, but his arm is above average. Jones is one of the better downfield throwers when he actually has the chance to throw downfield.

Jones had 43 downfield throws (20 air yards or more) in 2020. The 43 attempts ranked 22nd. DJ completed 20 of the 43 for 652 yards, six TDs, and 0 INTs. His passer rating on the 43 attempts was 132.5, which was best in the NFL.

Jones still has issues with turnovers and pocket awareness, but he improved at those facets of his game in 2020 compared to his rookie season. The NY Giants’ QB1 looked much more comfortable as a rookie in Pat Shurmur’s offense when he threw for 24 TDs in 12 games.

Another facet of his game that did improve in 2020 was his rushing. He ran for 6.5 yards per carry, which ranked first in the NFL among QBs. His 423 rushing yards ranked 6th and he had the fastest speed (21.23 MPH) by a QB.

I believe Mike Glennon is a slight upgrade over last season’s backup, Colt McCoy. Glennon has a much better arm than McCoy did, and can better keep defenses honest when they load up too many players in the box to stop the run game.
