The NY Giants take on the NFC East rival Washington Football Team on Thursday Night Football, facing many daunting early-season questions, and aiming to avoid an 0-2 start

Just one game into the 2021 NFL season, and the NY Giants are already facing significant questions ahead of squaring off with the NFC East rival Washington Football Team on Thursday Night Football.

Despite adding prize free agent wide receiver Kenny Golladay, and getting star running back Saquon Barkley back in time for last Sunday’s season opener against the Denver Broncos, the NY Giants managed just seven points through the first 59 minutes. At home.

Only the Atlanta Falcons (six) and Green Bay Packers (three) scored fewer points than the NY Giants’ 13 in Week 1.

Once again, quarterback Daniel Jones operated a conservative game plan, rarely pushing the ball downfield and the running game was bottled up as running back Saquon Barkley didn’t quite look full-strength and the offensive line struggled to open running lanes against the Broncos.

Here are three bold predictions for Thursday night’s game between the NY Giants vs. Washington Football Team:

NY Giants bold prediction No. 1: Chase Young sacks Daniel Jones twice

Chase Young is one of the NFL’s premier edge rushers, already, and is only going to get better as his second season gets going.

Last week, Los Angeles Chargers rookie offensive tackle Rashawn Slater was absolutely dominant, producing a 79.9 pass-blocking grade while allowing zero pressures on quarterback Justin Herbert, despite lining up opposite Young and Montez Sweat for much of the game.

Now would be a convenient reminder that Slater was available, when the NY Giants traded back to No. 20 overall to acquire the Bears’ first-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft, and choose wide receiver Kadarius Toney.

Anyway, Young won’t be lining up against Slater anymore, and that could be a welcomed reprieve against Andrew Thomas, Matt Peart, and/or Nate Solder.

Young, in Week 1, was held to one pressure, while Thomas allowed two pressures and Solder surrendered one sack and three total pressures.

There’s a good chance, against this offensive line, that Young sacks Daniel Jones at least twice.
