James Bradberry vs. Terry McLaurin: Advantage, McLaurin

Bradberry is the NY Giants’ most gifted defensive back, so lining up against the opponent’s premier wide receiver is nothing new, but on Thursday night Terry McLaurin got the better of New York’s Pro Bowler.

McLaurin ran a perfect post-route with 11:16 remaining in the second quarter, and hauled in a perfectly-placed show from quarterback Taylor Heinicke for an 11-yard touchdown to tie the game.

On Washington’s first possession of the second quarter alone, McLaurin caught four passes for 43 yards, and Bradberry didn’t seem to have any answers.

Bradberry’s turnover late was the kind of clutch play the NY Giants need from their clutch defensive back.

But, if the NY Giants’ defense is going to remain among the top-10 in the league, as it was for spells last season, it is going to need to be on the back of strong secondary play this season. Bradberry needs to play at a higher level than he has through the first two games.
