Daniel Jones, NY Giants offense get much-needed fast start

The NY Giants, Daniel Jones, and Jason Garrett all faced pressing questions during a long four days following an uninspiring performance in the season-opener.

Jones and the offense responded in kind with an efficient opening drive that chewed up just under six minutes of the first quarter over 11 plays, and 71 yards after taking over on the 29-yard-line was capped by Jones scrambling for a six-yard touchdown.

On New York’s opening possession, not only did Jones manage to get the ball into the Giants’ biggest playmakers in the passing game; Sterling Shepard, Kenny Golladay, and Kyle Rudolph, but had runs of 15 and six yards.

Arguably more encouraging than Jones opening the game with a lengthy scoring drive is the fact that he was able to protect the football on both runs, which was obviously a point of emphasis after losing a fumble in Week 1 against the Broncos.
