It’s a make-it or break-it year for fourth-year NY Giants LB Lorenzo Carter

Although the Giants defense was much improved in 2020 (offering fans a sliver of hope to boast about), Big Blue’s pass rush has been something of a question mark in recent years.

Still, with their current lineup of WLB Lorenzo Carter, LILB Tae Crowder, RILB Blake Martinez, and SLB Oshane Ximines, it’s not a unit to be feared overall.

Except for Martinez, the Giants need much better production from their linebackers if they’re looking to celebrate their first .500 season, and – (dare I say) – maybe even a competitive playoff push.

That leaves Lorenzo Carter in the hot seat. He is desperately needed to rush the opposing quarterback.

Coming off a 2020 season where he tore his achilles, the former third round draft pick needs to live up to the hype he garnered entering the final year of his current 4-year rookie contract.

The NY Giants don’t need him to be Blake Martinez.

They do however need someone to rush the opposing quarterback and cover the middle of the field. Unfortunately, if Carter doesn’t make a jump this season, it could very well be his last suiting up in Giant blue, as well as lead his team to another sub .500 record come January.
