NY Giants late addition C Billy Price must rise to the occasion

At age 26, Center Billy Price has three full NFL season under his belt.

Acquired via a preseason trade from the Cincinnati Bengals in a deal that saw defensive lineman B.J. Hill sent to Ohio along with a conditional 2022 seventh-round draft choice, it remains to be seen if the injury-ravaged Giants O-line will be steadied by Price’s services as the new starting center.

Losing Nick Gates to a gruesome leg injury during Week 2’s Thursday Night Football matchup against the Washington Football Team is a major blow for a team already thin on the O-line and striving to improve this weak spot of the roster that has plagued them season after season after season with no significant improvement to date.

Though Price was originally added to bolster the depth chart, he’s going to have to rise to challenge of filling the starting role as the Giants new center. That’s a tall task, with the added pressure of opening lanes for a recuperating Saquon Barkley while also protecting Daniel Jones.

But that’s the job description, and Price is going to have to yield results if he’d like to finish his fourth season as a pro successfully on Big Blue.
