NY Giants roster: stock watch entering Week 3 vs. Atlanta Falcons
WR Sterling Shepard: Rising
Sterling Shepard is off to the strongest start of his career, even without Kenny Golladay, Saquon Barkley, or Slayton firing on all cylinders to command a defense’s attention.
Shepard, entering Week 3, is tied for the league-lead with 16 receptions and ranks 13th in the NFL in targets, which underscores the fact that he continues to be Jones’ security blanket.
Even after guaranteeing free agent pickup Kenny Golladay $45 million, and choosing Kadarius Toney in the first-round of this spring’s draft, Shepard has been the NY Giants’ most productive and consistent receiver.
Jones has a 129.6 passer rating when targeting Shepard, who has just one drop in 19 targets.
If Shepard keeps up this torrid pace, he could not only have his most productive season but would author a strong case to make his first Pro Bowl by season’s end, as well. Especially if the NY Giants’ offense ever shifts into high gear.
