NY Giants roster: stock watch entering Week 3 vs. Atlanta Falcons
OC Jason Garrett: Falling
The NY Giants had one of the least productive offenses in 2020, and seems to be regressing through the first two weeks in 2021.
Sure, the NY Giants showed some life on offense, and the ability to play off of Jones’ mobility and funnel the offense through the running game was encouraging. But, in an era of high-powered and high-scoring offenses, the NY Giants continue to rank near the bottom of the NFl in key categories.
Entering Week 3, the NY Giants rank 19th in yards per game (352.5), and 22nd in points per game (21).
Golladay was so miffed during last Thursday’s game that NFL Network cameras caught the receiver screaming at Garrett on the sidelines.
Perhaps most worrisome is that Garrett’s play calling continues to lack creativity and rarely pushes the ball vertically, despite speed on the perimeter from Golladay and Slayton.
Sunday could represent an opportunity for Jones and the offense to stretch the field, but if the Giants’ offense continues to methodically plod with short and intermediate routes against the Falcons’ 18th ranked passing defense, it could be a harbinger of even more struggles ahead.
