NY Giants takeaways as defense collapses late in 17-14 loss to Falcons
The NY Giants might need to move on from Evan Engram
Sunday was Evan Engram’s 2021 debut, and he may have already worn out his welcome among the NY Giants’ fanbase.
After the NY Giants got the ball back with 1:38 remaining in the first half, Engram fumbled on a pass over the middle of the field, which was predictably met by a chorus of boos from a nearly sold out MetLife Stadium.
Then, when Joe Judge took Engram out for a play early in the second half, fans gave the move a standing ovation.
Engram made his first Pro Bowl last season, but also dropped a critical pass against the Philadelphia Eagles that cost the Giants a game and maybe even a playoff berth.
It’s unclear what Engram’s trade value would be at this stage of his career, but if Jones and the offense don’t have confidence in him and he keeps coming up small in big spots, it might be worth general manager Dave Gettleman gauging interest in a move at the upcoming trade deadline.
