Former NY Giants wide receiver Golden Tate takes aim at the NY Giants coaching staff, and Jason Garrett for the team’s disastrous 0-3 start to the 2021 season

If the season ended today, the NY Giants would be picking No. 5 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, which seems like a far more likely outcome than this team turning it around and making a run at the postseason after yet another 0-3 start.

There’s plenty of blame to go around, from owner John Mara (who was greeted with thunderous boos as Eli Manning was inducted into the ring of honor Sunday), to head coach Joe Judge, and both of his coordinators.

Golden Tate played two seasons for the NY Giants, including a tumultuous 2020 campaign where he was left behind for a game in Washington after screaming at the cameras during a Monday Night Football loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, imploring the Giants to throw him the ball, and his wife questioning is role on social media.

Tuesday, Tate hinted that Judge’s old school tactics might be a significant issue behind the NY  Giants’ struggles.

"“The conditioning can be a little too much,” Tate said, during an appearance on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. “Guys start getting soft tissue injuries. This is a 17-game season now. That’s long. Long. Before you can even get over your soreness from last game, you’re practicing already. I would chill a little on that.”"

In addition to questioning whether Judge’s tactics during training camp have made any impact whatsoever on the discipline and fundamentals of his team, after consecutive late-game collapses, two seasons into Jason Garrett’s tenure as offensive coordinator, the NY Giants remain one of the more inept offenses in the league.

After three weeks, the NY Giants are averaging just 18.7 points per game, 25th most in the NFL, one year removed from averaging just 17.5 points, good for the 31st scoring offense in the league.

Judge gave Garrett a vote of confidence this week, saying he has no plans to make any changes when it comes to play-calling.

But, Tate took aim at the underperforming Giants coordinator.

"“I think he can be better,” Tate said. “Look, Jason has amazing stories. Great storyteller, but that’s not winning games, or scoring points. I don’t understand why the Giants are struggling to score points. For a year last year, and part of this year.“You have the personnel. I don’t know what the issue is.”"

For all of the playmakers on the NY Giants’ offense, New York has converted just 33.3 percent of red zone trips into touchdowns, only 44.7 percent of third downs, and have yet to produce a 100-yard rusher through three weeks.

"“You have to set your guys up. Kenny Golladay, he can go get the ball,” Tate said. “You have Shep[ard], who you can move all over the place. You have Evan Engram. You have Saquon. You have all these players.”“You have the players, but them in situations to be successful.”"
