Amid yet another 0-3 start to an NFL Season, the NY Giants roster is in dire need of an upgrade at several key positions

While the NY Giants have depth and talent in some positions New York is sorely lacking heavily in others.

Whether it be through free agency, trades, or the draft, the Giants need to do something about these problems soon.

Here’s a look at three positions the NY Giants desperately need to upgrade:

Number 1: Linebackers

Coming into the season the NY Giants linebacker core looked questionable.

Outside of tackling machine Blake Martinez, there weren’t really any linebackers that we knew could play above an average level. With Martinez now being out for the rest of the season, the problem will only continue to be highlighted.

Lorenzo Carter has been lackluster so far this year, only tallying 9 tackles in 3 games while playing a career high 72% of snaps. He also has a worrisome 18.2% missed tackle percentage. Carter will get a slight pass for now though because he is coming off an Achilles injury.

After having a very surprising rookie season after being the last pick in the 2020 draft, Tae Crowder seemed like he was primed for a breakout year this season.

To start the season Crowder wasn’t playing a very high amount of snaps, only playing 38% of them in week one, and 59% in week 2.

However, when given an opportunity to play 98% of snaps in week 3 against the Falcons, Crowder shined. Tallying 11 total tackles and a pass deflection. Hopefully Patrick Graham continues to showcase the young backer as he has potential to be a game changer for this defense.

Another linebacker on the team who has really struggled this season has been former third-round pick, Oshane Ximines.

While he has only played in 20% of snaps so far this year he has struggled mightily in these opportunities. Only tallying 4 combined tackles in 3 games with a staggering 20% missed tackle percentage. Ouch.

The best way the Giants can improve this position is through free agency.

With former Pro Bowler Jamie Collins recently being released by the Lions, the NY Giants should give him a chance.

Another free agent I believe the Giants should take a look at is Benardrick McKinney. In his last full healthy season McKinney totaled 105 tackles.

These are two low risk high reward pick ups that could help patch the currently broken linebacker core.
