NY Giants wide receiver John Ross flashed game-changing speed, catching his first touchdown of the season Sunday afternoon against the New Orleans Saints

NY Giants wide receiver John Ross showed off his game-changing speed in his first game of the 2021 season, scoring his first touchdown as a Giant Sunday afternoon against the New Orleans Saints.

With 8:59 remaining in the second quarter, Ross got behind the Saints’ secondary and hauled in a 52-yard touchdown pass, between the defenders, from Daniel Jones to give New York a 7-0 lead.

Thrust into a more significant role Sunday due to wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton being out with hamstring injuries, Ross showed he belongs.

A former first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, injuries have ravaged Ross’ career, but he showed in his first game with the NY Giants that he has the speed to make a legitimate game-changing impact.

Ross set an NFL Combine record, running the 40-yard dash in 4.22 seconds, prior to the 2017 NFL Draft, but has yet to live up to his first-round biting.

Signed to a one-year contract with the NY Giants this spring, for $2.25 million per season, if Ross can continue to add the kind of big plays he did against the Saints, he is going to carve out a significant role in New York’s passing game.

Ross might even allow the NY Giants to shop Darius Slayton, ahead of the NFL trade deadline, if he continues to show he’s capable of staying healthy and contributing big plays.
