It hasn’t been easy with so much overhaul, but the NY Giants need better play from the interior of the offensive line.

The NY Giants need better play more consistently from the inside of the offensive line.

The unit has seen many shakeups over the last month.

New York traded for both Billy Price and Ben Bredeson. The Giants signed Matt Skura and Isaiah Wilson. They lost Nick Gates and Shane Lemieux to season-ending injuries that must now be overcome.

This group has started Nate Solder at right tackle in both games despite many expectations that Matt Peart would be in that spot. Peart has now been working with the guards on the inside, so now it even further complicates a cloudy situation.

The starting line this week will be some combination of Andrew Thomas at left tackle, Billy Price at the center, Will Hernandez and Matt Skura taking up the guard spots, and Nate Solder will likely start again on the right. The team has liked what they’ve seen from Solder despite some of his visible struggles and negative clips that arose on social media.

Peart could slide into one of the starting spots at guard or right tackle but seems unlikely as of right now. The group has actually held up much, much better than expected in pass blocking and from what they showed in the preseason. They’ve provided little to nothing in the run game, however, which is where the deficiencies have caused major issues for this offense. Saquon Barkley has had virtually no holes or open gaps to run through and hit daylight. He’s had to do much on his own and create whatever he can provide once he gets to the open field or the outside of the ‘tackle box’.

The Saints have a defense that will be tough to go up against. However, the Giants’ offensive line must rise to the occasion if they want to win. The Giants better hope they can get some push up-front offensively to create some lanes and opportunities for this offense.
