The NY Giants were never all that competitive, during a blowout loss to the Los Angeles Rams, but three stats showed just how ugly the defeat really was

After another embarrassing loss Sunday afternoon, a 38-11 shellacking by the Los Angeles Rams, the NY Giants drop to 1-5 on the season.

With a multitude of players dealing with injuries it seems as if it will only continue to go downhill for the Giants.

With there being absolutely no good aspects about this game, there are some stats that show just how disastrous Sunday’s game really was.

Here are the 3 disastrous stats the defined the NY Giants’ week 6 loss to the Rams:

Number 1: 4 Sacks, 7 QB hits

This offensive line is flat out terrible.

It all started out when on the first play of the game Nate Solder got obliterated by Leonard Floyd. This led to Daniel Jones getting hit mid throw which then led to a fumble. Thankfully the fumble was recovered but it was an embarrassing play by Solder nonetheless.

Things got worse after left tackle Andrew Thomas left the game with a leg injury after having it rolled up on a run play. After that it all went downhill.

It seemed as if the entire game the NY Giants offensive line was lost. None of them could block in the open field on screens or runs, they couldn’t hold their own on pass blocks, it seemed as if they just couldn’t do anything.

This resulted in four sacks and seven QB hits on Daniel Jones, and several quarterback pressures.

One of these sacks came early in the second quarter, when backup left tackle Matt Peart got bullied into the backfield which led to Daniel Jones getting hit mid throw, this led to another fumble. However, this time the Giants weren’t so lucky.

When Peart went to go recover the ball he dove on top of it and it simply popped out from underneath him, leading to the rams recovering the ball at the NY Giants 12 yard line. Embarrassing.

After years of GM David Gettleman promising to fix the offensive line he has simply done a terrible job at it.

Nate Solder is currently one of the worst contracts in the NFL. Replacement players like Billy Price, Wes Martin, and Matt Skura looking borderline unplayable at times. While Andrew Thomas has looked fantastic this year he has been dealing with injuries as of late.

Certainly you’d think after nearly four  years Gettleman would’ve solidified the offensive line through the draft or free agency, right? Nope.

Four years on, and the best Gettleman has given the Giants is Andrew Thomas, who has looked amazing. Will Hernandez, who is still decent, but has regressed mightily since his rookie year. and Nick Gates, who is usually great, but is out for the rest of this season. This is absolutely unacceptable.
