Number 3: Make changes to the coaching staff

This one is a bit more drastic, but it is a move that will best help save the NY Giants season.

It’s unknown, as of now, if the front office will make any changes. But, if things continue to go on a downward spiral like they have, they might not have a choice.

Here are the changes that need to be made to the coaching staff:

Fire Jason Garrett:

There are a lot of Giants fans that will agree on this one.

Garett’s tenure as the Giants offensive coordinator has been putrid, to say the least. With the Giants consistently being towards the bottom of the league in almost every offensive stat.

For example, last season the NY Giants ranked 31st in total yards, 32nd in total TD’s, 31st in first downs, and 28th in yards per play.

This season the Giants offense hasn’t looked nearly as bad statistically. Ranking 13th in total yards, 16th in first downs, and 20th in yards per play. However, something that has stuck has been Garretts inability to call up scoring plays with the NY Giants ranking 30th in passing TD’s and 15th in rushing TD’s.

While Garrett’s woes as a play caller have not been so extreme as of late, they are still not good. He essentially went from horrific, to just plain bad.

Put Patrick Graham on a tighter leash:

Patrick Graham necessarily needs to be fired just yet. He needs to fix this once top 10 defense.

This year the Giants defense ranks 6th in yards given up, 3rd in passing TDs allowed, 11th in rushing TD’s allowed, and 8th in first downs allowed. This is unacceptable for a defense that was once top of the league.

The number 1 issue with this defense is the way Patrick Graham insists on running this zone where everyone is backed off of the receivers by 3-5 yards. While it limits big plays by the offense, it makes it way to easy for opponents to march down the field little by little.

Dave Gettleman needs to talk to Graham and tell him that if he does not go back to the same system as last year then he will be fired.

Fire Dave Gettleman:

Dave Gettleman’s tenure has not been a good one thus far.

Boasting a record of 17-38 that is the worst in the NFL since he became the NY Giants GM. Alongside many bad trades, hiring’s, draft choices, and signings, most Giants fans have been asking for his firing for a couple of years now.

It’s doubtful John Mara will make a move this drastic during the season, if things continue to go down hill Gettleman will most likely be fired by the end of the season.

Hot. NY Giants stay or go amid disastrous start to season. light
