NFC East’s #3 team: Washington Football Team

Thank heavens for the Atlanta Falcons.

Without the ‘Dirty Birds’, the NFC East would be one sorry division.

For the second straight week, the Washington Football team took a double-digit loss following their one-score victory over Atlanta two and a half weeks ago. On Sunday, it was the Kansas City Chiefs, looking less dominant overall in 2021 than recent seasons, that laid the beatdown on WFT.

Patrick Mahomes threw for three yards short of 400 and added another 31 yards on the ground, and put the game away with a 41-yard nail in the coffin touchdown toss to DeMarcus Robinson in the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s 31-13 trouncing of Washington. That loss followed a four passing touchdown performance from New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston the week prior.

WFT’s secondary is having a tough time stopping anybody, whether it’s a former MVP like Mahomes or even Daniel Jones during yet another down season for the NY Giants offense.

As Taylor Heinicke has shown the past two weeks with his inconsistency, he isn’t always able to deliver the fireworks he did in last year’s NFC Wild Card game. Without the Washington defense living up to its name as a once fearsome unit that’s tough to run up the score on–they ranked fourth in points allowed in 2020–teams should continue to score enough not to worry about WFT mounting a comeback.
