NY Giants vs. Panthers injury update: Latest on Saquon Barkley, Kadarius Toney, more
Saquon Barkley and Kadarius Toney were mere spectators during NY Giants practice, as both offensive stars deal with ankle injuries
There’s a legitimate chance the NY Giants will once again be severely undermanned on Sunday afternoon against the Carolina Panthers.
During the portion of Thursday’s practice that is open to the media, multiple reports say running back Saquon Barkley (ankle), wide receiver Kadarius Toney (ankle), wide receiver Kenny Golladay (knee) did not practice.
Barkley has been sidelined since suffering a sprained ankle in the first quarter of a Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, and Golladay was knocked from the same game.
Meanwhile, Toney suffered an ankle injury on the NY Giants’ first possession in last week’s 38-11 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Rams, after first catching all three of his targets for 36 yards.
If Barkley is unable to go, Devontae Booker would once again inherit the lion’s share of the Giants’ workload in the backfield.
Without Golladay and Toney, it would seem Daniel Jones’ top targets in the passing game have the chance to be Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton, presuming Slayton is healthy enough to return this week.
This is the second consecutive game where the NY Giants will be battling through significant injuries on offense to some of the team’s most vital contributors.
