NFC East Power Rankings: NY Giants rising ahead of Chiefs showdown
NFC East’s #2 team: NY Giants
Finally, there is positive momentum for the NY Giants franchise that doesn’t feel flukey, like its Week 4 win over the New Orleans Saints felt.
It was a complete effort from the NY Giants, who scored 25 unanswered points after the Panthers went up by a field goal in the fist quarter.
Daniel Jones pitched in an inspiring effort, amassing 231 all-purpose yards and finding Dante Pettis for a touchdown pitch and catch in the third quarter to put New York up 12-3. Devontae Booker was solid, if unspectacular, collecting 51 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
Of course, missing as many weapons as the Giants are could keep their Week 7 triumph from being any sort of trend. Saquon Barkley is still missing, as are a trio receivers including Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, and Sterling Shephard.
They could return Monday against Kansas City, but Joe Judge wouldn’t guarantee it:
"“There’s different timetables for all of these guys. I’m not going to go ahead and give a ‘This guy’s further ahead,’ “ Judge said. “With these injuries, it sounds like day by day different guys are at different points and some days it sounds like one guy is further along than another guy. What we ask from the trainers is just give us accurate information and let us know so we can plan accordingly.”"
The Chiefs are struggling this year, so the first winning streak of the season isn’t impossible for Big Blue.
That said, it’s premature to crown the Giants the clear #2 in the NFC East.
