NY Giants’ Sterling Shepard knocked from Chiefs game with quad injury
Sterling Shepard is out with a quad injury, as the NY Giants begin the second half against the Kansas City Chiefs
NY Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard’s return to the lineup Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs was short-lived.
Shepard, making his return after missing last week’s game due to a hamstring injury, went down on a non-contact injury in the first half Monday night, suffering a quad injury. He’s out for the game.
Prior to being knocked from the contest, Shepard caught four of seven targets for 25 yards, but seemingly made two costly gaffes.
In the first quarter it seemed Shepard might have ran the wrong route in the end zone, when Daniel Jones floated the pass to the right near the boundary but nowhere near Shepard, who seemed to turn the wrong way.
Later, on a pivotal 3rd down-and seven, Shepard appeared to cut his route off short of the marker, forcing the NY Giants to settle for a field goal to cut Kansas City’s lead to 14-10.
Jones and the Giants will now be severely undermanned at wide receiver, in Shepard’s absence. Wide receiver Dante Pettis was also knocked from Monday’s game, with a shoulder injury suffered on a punt return, and Kenny Golladay was inactive due to a knee injury.
