The NY Giants had every chance to upset the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth quarter, despite familiar issues rearing their ugly head

The NY Giants fell to the Kansas City Chiefs, 20-17 on Monday night, despite making enough plays to have a chance to upset the two-time defending AFC Champions at Arrowhead Stadium.

Following Monday night’s loss, the Giants are now 2-6.

Quarterback Daniel Jones finished 22-of-32, passing for 222 yards, with two touchdowns, to one interception, as Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was 29-48, 275 yards, one touchdown, and one interception of his own.

The NY Giants will be back home next Sunday to face the Las Vegas Raiders who are 5-2, as things won’t get any easier for Joe Judge’s team.

Here are three key stats that defined the NY Giants’ loss to the Chiefs:

1) Daniel Jones turnover in the beginning of the game

When Mahomes threw a pick into the end zone, not long after, Jones threw an easy interception to Willie Gay.

Jones and Gay made eye contact and Gay knew it was coming his way as he returned it to the Giants 13. Four plays later, on third-and-goal, Mahomes threw to Tyreek Hill for a six-yard touchdown.

This cost the Giants because they could have scored seven points on their opening drive and this happened on their second offensive snap. Jones’ tallied his interceptions to five now on the season.
