The NY Giants have played three very good games in a row, won two of them, and are coming out of the bye week very much alive in the NFC Wild Card race.
New York is 2-1 over that span, and very easily could be 3-0. With an overall record of 3-6, the first half wasfilled with would’ve, could’ve, and should’ves for the NY Giants.
After significant offseason spending, it’s unlikely the NY Giants’ front office expected such an inconsistent first half of the 2021 regular season.
The Giants‘ first nine games were filled with key players getting injured, bad penalties at bad times, and a conservative offensive scheme including a playing not to lose approach that has all cost the New York games.
What will the second half bring? Here are the NY Giants’ offensive keys to success
Be more aggressive
The NY Giants offense has been criticized since game one.
Offensive Coordinator Jason Garret has had an extremely cautious game plan and the team has not scored enough points.
Playcalling has been laughable at times, and the NY Giants’ weapons that are on the field just are not being used as they should.
Garrett fields most of this blame, but do not forget he works for someone. That someone is Head Coach Joe Judge.
Judge’s second year at the helm has not been all roses, by any means. Judge has the final say in the conservatism and not going for the kill and trying to end games that his team is in the lead of. His clock management his been beyond suspect, using timeouts at the worst time and not having any left in crunch time.
The NY Giants are 3-6, the second half needs to bring an aggressive go-for-it attitude when it comes to the rest of their season.
