Predicting the Giants’ second half of the season
Week 18 NY Giants vs. Washington
Almost three months after the Giants’ brutal loss to Washington on Thursday Night Football, the season series wraps up in New Jersey in what is likely both these teams’ last game of the year.
Jones has had by far the most success of his career against Washington, going 4-1 against them with 10 total touchdowns to three interceptions. I think we’ll see more of that in week 18.
Washington’s defense has been downright horrible up until their upset victory over the Bucs, and with Chase Young having suffered an ACL tear, they’re in for a long rest of the year without their stud pass rusher. Additionally, the team will probably be without Ryan Fitzpatrick for the remainder of the season, meaning that Taylor Heinicke will remain the starter through the end of the year.
Strangely enough, Washington plays Dallas and Philadelphia twice and their four games prior to week 18, giving them a gauntlet of tough NFC East battles to close the season.
The Giants may be playing their best game of the season with the pressure off, presumably eliminated from playoff contention by the start of this game. Potentially the final game for Jones as the Giants quarterback, so I expect he’ll make one last push to showcase why he should be the man at the helm for the foreseeable future.
Prediction: Giants 34, Washington 20
Final Record Prediction: 7-10
Post-bye week: 4-4
Wins against: MIA, WSH, PHI (2x)
Losses against: TB, LAC, DAL, CHI
