Giants’ defensive line comes up small

On consecutive plays on the Eagles’ final drive of the first half, Philadelphia faked a handoff to running back Miles Sanders, in favor of Hurts sprinting up the middle, as the Eagles’ interior offensive line simply bullied the Giants’ line around.

New York had no answers, as Hurts rushed for four yards and 18 yards, with Dexter Lawrence getting pushed around on both runs, particularly the second.

Coming into this season, the NY Giants’ defensive line was expected to be a strength, but the run-first Eagles finished with 208 rushing yards, including a team-leading 77 by Hurts.

A silver lining for the Giants’ defense is Austin Johnson producing half a sack, along with Julian Love, and producing timely pressure on Hurts. If this team is going to turn a corner, that will need to continue.
