The NY Giants pulled off a win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, on the back of a dominant defense, that keeps New York in the NFC East race

After an upset victory against the Eagles this week the NY Giants move to 4-7 on the season and knock the Eagles to 5-7, tightening the NFC East race.

With a struggling Cowboys team sitting atop the NFC East, having lost to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thanksgiving, and three of their last four, we could very easily see some changes in the division standings.

Here’s a look at the latest NFC East standings, including where the NY Giants sit:

  1. Dallas Cowboys (7-4)
  2. Philadelphia Eagles (5-7)
  3. Washington Football Team (4-6)
  4. NY Giants (4-7)

While the NY Giants sitting in last place may seem bleak, remember that they are only one game behind the Eagles, and depending on how Washington’s game on Monday goes they could be tied or also one game behind them.

The Cowboys currently sit on top of the NFC East quite comfortably at 7-4.

However, they have lost three of their last four games, they could easily lose that first place spot to anyone in the division if these struggles continue.

The NY Giants have a very winnable second half of the season, only playing 2 teams over 500. in the Cowboys and the Chargers. If they can at least 4-5 of the remaining games, we could very easily see them slip into a playoff spot.

With it being likely that the Cowboys will remain on top of the NFC East, the NY Giants best chance to attempt to make the playoffs would be to sneak into a wildcard spot.
