NY Giants 7-round 2022 NFL mock draft: tackles, and edge help on the way

Round 1, pick No. 7: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon

There’s a very legitimate chance that Thibodeaux winds up the No. 1 overall choice in the NFL Draft, and long gone by the time the NY Giants go on the clock.

However, as teams typically push quarterbacks up the board, and because there is such a scarcity of elite prospects at the position in this year’s class, there’s a chance that a third passer could join Kenny Pickett and Sam Howell as first-round picks and perhaps wind up being chosen in the top-five.

If Thibodeaux is somehow available, the NY Giants shouldn’t hesitate to tab the consensus top pass-rusher in this year’s class.

For too long, and throughout the Dave Gettleman era, the NY Giants have attempted to piecemeal a pass-rush together around mid-round picks and front-three pressure. It’s long past time for that philosophy to change.

Thibodeaux would immediately be the most physically gifted rusher on the NY Giants’ roster, and has produced over 25 quarterback pressures this season in addition to his six sacks and 46 total tackles.

There’s probably an argument to be made for the NY Giants to package one of these picks — and multiple others — to go and grab Thibodeaux No. 1 overall. If they can swing it …
