The Oldest Player in NY Giants’ History: Kicker John Carney

Age: 44 Years Old

John Carney is the oldest player in NY Giants’ franchise history at 44 years old.

Carney was the Giants and NFL’s oldest player in the NFL during the 2008 season. He also had just one season with the team but he was remarkably productive. Carney was 35 of 38 on field goals (two of them were blocked) and he earned NFL 2nd-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors both for the second time ever in an impressive 24-year career.

Carney played 24 seasons spanning four decades. He spent 11 years in San Diego as their kicker, earning 1st-Team All-Pro in 1994 while appearing in the Super Bowl, along with a six-year stretch in New Orleans with the Saints.

Carney and Feagles were the two oldest players in the NFL in 2008. They combined for an unheard of 87 years between the two. It was even cooler to see the two teammates be close as they were the two specialists on special teams, both were bald, and both were highly successful earning Pro Bowl honors together.
