NY Giants running back Saquon Barkley was added to the team’s injury report, following Wednesday’s practice

Saquon Barkley’s nightmarish season for the NY Giants continues.

The Giants’ veteran running back was limited in practice Wednesday, ahead of Sunday’s game in Los Angeles against the Chargers, due to an ankle injury.

Barkley, who has lacked the explosiveness this season that helped propel him to become the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, is having the worst statistical season of his career to date.

Through his first eight games, Barkley has rushed for just 315 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while averaging 3.8 yards per carry.

Earlier this season, Barkley missed four games due to an ankle injury, which makes his return to the injured list this week a bit concerning.

The NY Giants have had to navigate several significant injuries that have caused several key players to miss time this season, including playing last week without quarterback Daniel Jones, who suffered a neck injury in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Here is the NY Giants’ Wednesday practice report, ahead of Sunday’s game against the Chargers:
