3 keys for NY Giants to pull an upset against the Chargers
The NY Giants aim to play spoiler against the high-flying Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon at SoFi Stadium, and pull off an upset
The NY Giants face off against the Los Angeles Chargers this week in a Week 14 matchup, with the Chargers sitting at 7-5 on the season while pushing towards a playoff appearance, this will be a very difficult game for the NY Giants, who sit at 3-8 on the year.
However, nothing is impossible.
We have seen the NY Giants win similar games like this in the past. Such as the week 13 matchup against the Seahawks last season when backup QB Colt McCoy led the NY Giants to a win against said Seahawks team.
Here are 3 keys for the NY Giants to have a chance to pull an upset against the Chargers this week:
NY Giants key No 1: Mike Glennon:
After a horrid performance against the Dolphins last week, it appears that Mike Glennon will be suiting up yet again this week with Daniel Jones being listed as OUT due to a neck injury.
In last week’s matchup against the Dolphins Mike Glennon struggled to make even the simplest of passes. Finishing the game completing 23 of his 44 passes for 187 yards and an interception.
This week, however, Glennon faces a better defense in the Chargers, who rank 27th in passing yards allowed, 26th in passing TD’s allowed, and 18th in yards per play allowed.
Last week Glennon struggled to make the correct read time and time again, he seemingly had very little pocket awareness, and he just flat out could not make simple throws. For a veteran QB who has starting experience, this is very bad. However, things can always change.
If Glennon can play at an even decent rate, he will give the NY Giants a chance to succeed on offense. However, with what we have seen from Glennon, this is unlikely to occur.
