NY Giants rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney was added to the COVID-19/reserve list for the second time this season on Monday

NY Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney’s disappointing rookie season continues.

Toney, who hasn’t played since Nov. 22 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was added to the COVID-19/reserve list by the Giants for the second time on Monday afternoon.

As the Omicron variant continues to spread across the United States, there were 37 players who tested positive for COVID-19. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Monday saw the highest total positive tests in the league since the pandemic began.

Upon checking in for training camp this summer, Toney tested positive for COVID-19, which kept him sidelined for much of the early portion of camp and seemed to set him back in terms of preparation for the season.

If Toney is not vaccinated, and a positive test is what triggered him being added to the COVID-19/reserve list, he would be forced to miss the next 10 days, keeping him out of Sunday’s contest against the Dallas Cowboys .

When healthy, Toney has flashed game-altering speed and explosiveness, but for the NY Giants, those moments have been few and far between.

So far this season, Toney has caught 35 passes for 392 yards after being chosen No. 20 overall in the NFL Draft.

Nagging injuries have limited Toney to appearing in just nine games, and it would seem he is in jeopardy of missing his fourth consecutive contest.
