3 reasons the NY Giants season collapsed since last game vs. Dallas Cowboys
Poor coaching:
Another staple of this disastrous season from the NY Giants has been poor coaching.
This is primarily from head coach Joe Judge and former offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.
Throughout the season, Judge has shown a lack of knowledge on when and when not to use timeouts. While this has gotten better as the year has gone on, it was a huge problem to start the year.
Judge has also shown a lack of an ability to hold his players accountable.
Each week after a loss Judge will address the media by saying something of the ‘I was impressed with the way the team fought’ sort.
With the NY Giants being 4-9 on the season, this attitude is not going to cut it anymore.
When Judge was hired by the NY Giants last season, it was easy to be excited by the hire.
It seemed as if Judge was bringing that tough New York mentality and would set this team on the right course. So far, this has been the opposite of the case. Judge’s mentality has been far from a “tough guy” opting to say these week phrases about being proud rather than addressing the actual problems with the team.
It remains to be seen if getting rid of Judge is the right move as of right now, things need to change with him if he wants a chance to keep his job.
Jason Garrett was fired after a brutal week 11 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, his impact throughout the first 11 weeks has critically hurt the NY Giants chances of success on the season.
While some of these issues could be put on poor execution by the players, Jason Garrett’s horrific play-calling has had a huge impact on the NY Giants’ poor offensive play.
On the season the NY Giants rank 28th in passing TD’s, 19th in passing yards, 26th in rushing yards, and 31st in rushing TD’s. These numbers for the talent the NY Giants have on their roster are unacceptable.
Since Freddie Kitchens replaced Jason Garrett the offense has statistically and visibly improved. However, it is still not good enough.
