3 keys for the NY Giants to pull an upset against the Cowboys this week
The NY Giants, after a COVID-19 outbreak that decimated the secondary, now must square off against the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys Sunday
The NY Giants enter their week 15 matchup against the Cowboys with a record of 4-9 on the season. After a COVID outbreak within the team, the Giants seemingly do not have much of a chance to win this week. However, nothing is impossible.
If the NY Giants want to have a chance to win this week they are going to have to rely on a couple of things to give them said chance.
With that being said, here are 3 keys for the NY Giants to have a chance to pull an upset against the Cowboys this week:
Player Health:
As previously mentioned, the NY Giants are going through somewhat of a COVID outbreak this week, with eight players testing positive.
Alongside this COVID outbreak, the flu has apparently hit the NY Giants, with multiple players saying they have flu-like symptoms.
The following players are listed on the injury report with illness:
Reggie Ragland
Steven Parker
Benardrick McKinney
Elerson Smith
Graham Gano
The following NY players were added to the COVID-19 reserve list:
Xavier McKinney (close contact)
Adoree’ Jackson
J.R Reed
Natrell Jamerson
John Ross
Cam Brown
Oshane Ximines
Aaron Robinson
As of right now, the NY Giants will only have five defensive backs who are currently able to play this week. While head coach Joe Judge was somewhat optimistic that Xavier McKinney will be cleared to play, it is still uncertain as to whether or not he will play.
Outside of the COVID/flu issues, here is the rest of the NY Giants injury report:
QB Daniel Jones, neck: OUT
G Ben Bredeson, ankle: Doubtful
DL Leonard Williams, triceps: Questionable
DL Austin Johnson, foot: Questionable
WR Sterling Shepard. calf: Questionable
If the NY Giants lose both Sterling Shepard and Leonard Williams for this week, the team is going to be in a lot worse shape than they already are. However, it is currently unknown if they are going to play yet.
