These NY Giants free agents are about to get PAID this offseason
NY Giants DT Austin Johnson
The NY Giants would prefer to keep Austin Johnson, especially given the success along the defensive line this season.
But, Johnson’s strong finish to the season and the fact that he plays a position that more and more is being viewed league-wide as being vital to a defense’s success, could make that problematic.
Through the NY Giants’ first 14 games, Johnson has produced three sacks and 18 quarterback pressures, while adding 30 run-stops along the interior of New York’s defensive line.
If Johnson would settle for a mid-level contract, there’s a good chance the NY Giants can keep their defensive line intact. But, that might prove difficult in an offseason with so much of the league flush with cap space and an ever-present need for dominant defensive line play.
