The NY Giants’ Special Teams were again anything but special
For a team head coached by a former Special Teams Coordinator, it’s truly shocking to see how incohesive they are on every special teams unit.
Riley Dixon should be cut after two consecutive bad seasons.
Dixon has a cap hit north of $3 million next season, which should be one of the easiest financial decisions of the offseason.
Elsewhere, Graham Gano was lights out as usual and he is the only one to avoid disappointment on special teams and maybe the entire roster. There’s a very strong argument o be made Gano has been the NY Giants’ most consistent player in back-t-back seasons. It’s never a good sign when your kicker may actually be your most talented player.
The NY Giants punted inside Eagles territory. Instead of making an effort to down the ball, the Giants’ gunners had no interest in finding the ball and watched it slowly roll into the end zone for a touchback. It’s the little things like that which truly show how much of an all-around team failure today’s game was.
The NY Giants also failed to recover a fumble on the game’s opening kickoff. There were multiple Giants players near the ball but nobody stepped up and made the play. The overall incompetence of today was a microcosm of the entire season.
